Overview
Garagester helps people publish and discover garage, yard, moving, estate, and community sales. In this policy, “Garagester,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the Garagester service, and “you” means a visitor, shopper, seller, organizer, or sale manager.
This policy applies to Garagester websites, forms, sale pages, and related communications that link to it. It does not govern a third party’s own website, app, or privacy practices.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Seller and organizer details: name, email address, phone number, sale address, dates, hours, title, categories, highlighted items, seller notes, and confirmation that you are authorized to publish the sale.
- Listing content: descriptions, photos, parking instructions, payment methods, early-bird policies, weather updates, and other information submitted for a sale.
- Communications: messages, corrections, reports, support requests, and feedback you send to us.
- Manager account information: for private management tools, the authenticated email address and name supplied by the sign-in service.
Information collected automatically
- Basic request and device information that may be recorded by our hosting and security providers, such as IP address, browser type, device type, requested page, date and time, and error or security events.
- A saved-sale preference and seller-form draft stored in your browser’s local storage. This device-local information helps preserve your choices between visits.
- Essential cookies or similar technologies used by hosting, security, and private sign-in systems. Garagester does not currently use third-party advertising cookies.
How we use information
We use information to:
- review, verify, create, update, and expire sale listings;
- provide sale search, photos, address controls, and directions;
- contact sellers about missing information, approval, changes, or cancellation;
- operate private sale-management tools and protect them from unauthorized access;
- respond to questions, reports, safety concerns, and legal requests;
- detect misuse, maintain security, troubleshoot errors, and improve the service; and
- create aggregated or de-identified insights that do not reasonably identify an individual.
We do not sell personal information. We do not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Public listings and home addresses
A sale listing may include a home or event address, photos, schedule, description, and seller-supplied notes. Public information can be viewed, copied, shared, cached, or indexed by others. Do not submit content you are not authorized to publish.
Garagester can show only an approximate area before a sale, reveal the exact address after seller approval, and remove the exact address and directions after the sale ends.
We will make reasonable efforts to update or remove information after a verified request, but we cannot control copies already saved, shared, cached, or indexed by third parties.
Your choices and rights
- Ask us to access, correct, remove, or delete information associated with you or a sale, subject to verification and legal exceptions.
- Ask us to cancel a listing or hide an exact address. For urgent address concerns, email us with the sale title and address.
- Clear Garagester’s browser storage through your browser settings to remove device-saved drafts and favorites.
- Opt out of nonessential promotional email or text messages using the instructions in the message. Operational messages about a submitted sale may still be necessary.
Depending on where you live, law may provide additional rights. Send requests to hello@garagester.us. We may need to verify your identity and authority over the relevant listing before completing a request.
Retention and security
We retain information only as long as reasonably needed to operate the service, manage the sale, maintain records, resolve disputes, enforce our rules, and meet legal obligations. The exact public address is intended to be removed after the sale ends, while limited back-office records may be kept longer when reasonably necessary.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
Garagester is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A person submitting or managing a sale must be at least 18 years old and authorized to publish the property and event information.
If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it when appropriate.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Garagester changes. The updated policy will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects how we use previously collected information, we will provide notice when required by law.
Questions or privacy requests can be sent to hello@garagester.us.
